Platform and Life Lessons- Heather's Mark On History
Despite Heather Whitestone having a physical disability, she believes the biggest disability in the world is negative thinking. When she was younger and first dealing with her deafness, she had a mentor who inspired her to always work hard and never give up. Because of the inspiration from her mentor, the S.T.A.R.S. Program was born. S.T.A.R.S., which stands for Success Through Action and Realization of your Dreams, was originally just a program she created for school. It is a program to becoming successful in five points: having a positive attitude, believing in your dreams, being wiling to work hard, facing obstacles, and building your support team. S.T.A.R.S. became Heather's platform for Miss America, as it was following the program that actually helped her to go to the national pageant. She uses it to motivate people of all ages to work hard for what they want, but her favorite people to be a mentor to are young children who are deaf, just like her mentor when she was younger.
"Everybody has different talents, personalities, and abilities and I truly love to see people reach their stars!"
